An updated version of an older product, this has additional stitching, stronger pegging points and zippers. With a peak height of 300cm, this will feel taller than the model above and allow you to move around freely without feeling hemmed in. The ground pegs aren’t the best for the job as it’s a big tent, so you’ll want to get an extra pack to take with you on your trip.

This Coleman 360degree tent offers six large windows with a mesh roof for maximum ventilation. There are two hinged doors that act as a real door would, and they’re full height all throughout this 8 man tent.

Colour coded steel poles make putting this tent up easy, and you can remove the partition curtain to make the space even bigger. This is a perfect tent for festivals, and as you’d expect, 100% waterproof.

What we like

  • Unsusal octagon tent
  • Feels really spacious

What we don’t

  • Can be drafty

Summary

If you’re looking for more of a living area than a sleeping area, this is a great tent. You can of course sleep in the living area too but if you’ve got younger children who sleep before you do, this tent might not be ideal. It’s a very strong tent and can withstand the elements well though. Perfect for a group of friends going away.

CampFeuer – Spacious Family Tent

CampFeuer - Spacious Family Tent, 580x410x210 cm, blue
  • CampFeuer 6 Person Tunnel Tent / Family Tentwith sewn-in groundsheet, blue
  • up to 12 person possible (6 person sleeping compartment and additionally 6 person in the vestibule)

This CampFeuer tent is really a gem. It’s a very reasonable price for the tent size (can sleep up to 12) and the quality is superb. The living area is separated from the sleeping area, meaning you can socialise even when the kids are in bed, and the sewn in ground sheet make this waterproof even in the wettest weathers.

Although this tent can take a little while to set up (two people about half an hour), it’s sturdy tent once it’s up it’s brilliant. There are pockets outside each sleeping area that are really handy.

The light colour of the cloth means it’s quite bright in the mornings, but hey, more time to get out exploring!

What we like

  • Reasonable price for the tent size
  • Upright walls so no having to stoop around the tent
  • Entrance canopy with mosquito net

What we don’t

  • Light colour makes it very bright in the mornings
  • Pegs are not good enough, take some heavy duty ones with you as well

Summary

On the whole this tent really is a perfect family camping tent. There is more than enough room for a family of 6, and you could also sleep an additional 6 people sleeping in the vestibule at a push. There are fly sheets in the bedroom areas for extra insect protection, but because of the sewn in ground sheet, we never had any issues with this anyway. Overall, a great family tent that’ll last for many years.

Features to Look at When Buying a Family Tent

Aside from reading reviews, like the ones highlighted above, there are many other things you should be looking at when choosing the test that’s best for you and your loved ones.

  • Size – It makes sense that the size of the tent should be your main priority. The last thing you want is a tent that is not big enough for everyone. You also need to think about whether you have enough space to transport it from one place to another.
  • How to set it up – Depending on the type of tent you choose; the setup may be quicker and simpler from some than it is for others. It is down to personal taste, but models that are inflated or that simply pop-up, are great for family camping holidays.
  • Tent Bedrooms and Layout – It’s not just the size you should be keenly interested in, as the number of bedrooms and how the whole tent is laid out is crucial too. The best layout for your family will be different to another.

It can feel a little overwhelming when you first look at family tents available. By using our reviews and buying guide though, it should be easy enough to find one.
